DocSend alternatives for sharing sales proposals

Short answer
Key takeaways
- DocSend shares files you already made, while proposal tools build the proposal itself, with pricing and a way to accept.
- AfterDemo builds the proposal from your demo call and tracks it per person on the same page.
- AfterDemo shows who opened the proposal, what they read, for how long and who it was shared with, with no trackers on proposal pages.
- Qwilr and PandaDoc build proposals with their own analytics, and Dock gives each deal a shared workspace.
DocSend alternatives come up when a sales team uses DocSend for one particular job: sending proposals and following up on them. DocSend is built for secure sharing. Whether it's the best way to send a sales proposal is a different question. Here are four options with prices from each vendor's own pricing page. Disclosure: I make AfterDemo. All our comparisons are on the compare hub.
Why sales teams look at DocSend alternatives
DocSend, part of Dropbox, shares documents through tracked links. Its pricing page lists document-level analytics, per-page analytics for PDF, Word, PowerPoint and other files, real-time engagement notifications, unlimited visitors and, on higher plans, data rooms. Visitors don't need a license.
The reasons teams sending proposals look at other tools:
- The proposal is built somewhere else. DocSend shares the file; the writing, pricing and layout happen in another tool.
- It's built for sharing files. Pricing options and an accept step built for proposals live in proposal tools.
- User counts are fixed per plan. Personal and Standard plan cards say "1 user included"; Advanced and Advanced Data Rooms include 3 users.
- Higher plans are built around data rooms. Fundraising, M&A and due diligence features are a big part of them.

How to read it: DocSend's Personal and Standard plans are priced per user, but their plan cards say "1 user included", so confirm with DocSend how extra users are added before budgeting for a team. Its Advanced plans are flat fees for three users. Dock's plans include five or ten users. Qwilr, PandaDoc and AfterDemo are per seat. AfterDemo has one plan with every feature included and a 30-day free trial with no card.

The alternatives
AfterDemo: the proposal and the tracking in one page
AfterDemo builds the proposal and tracks it. Paste your demo transcript or notes and AI drafts the buyer's problems in their own words; you approve it. You add how you solve each problem, with videos, images or files, and pricing with 1-, 2- and 3-year terms. The buyer accepts with one click, shares the page with colleagues (each gets their own link), prints it, or builds a one-page business case for their approver. No account needed.
You see who opened it, which sections they read and for how long, and who it was shared with. Each deal gets a temperature (hot, warm, cooling, dead) and a next-step plan, so you know where to spend today. There are no trackers on proposal pages.
Best for: small teams that share proposals more than any other document and want the page to do some of the selling. See the live example.
Qwilr
Qwilr builds proposals as web pages. Its Starter plan includes analytics and HubSpot, Zoho and Pipedrive integrations, and Growth adds identity verification and enhanced reporting.
PandaDoc
PandaDoc is a document platform with real-time tracking and notifications on every plan, including Free (5 documents a month). Business adds CRM integrations, a content library and deal rooms.
Dock
Dock gives each deal a workspace. Its Standard plan is a monthly fee with five users included, Premium is billed annually with ten, and external collaborators get free access.
Tracking a proposal without putting off the buyer
Most teams move to DocSend for one reason: they want to know whether the proposal was read. That's reasonable. A few habits keep tracking helpful for you and comfortable for buyers:
Track the proposal, not the person's every move. What helps you is whether the decision-maker saw the pricing, and whether the proposal was shared. You don't need location data or a minute-by-minute log to time a follow-up.
Don't quote their reading back to them. "I saw you spent ten minutes on pricing" makes people feel watched. "Happy to walk through the options if useful" uses the same signal politely.
Use per-person links where you can. DocSend lists individual visit dashboards and AfterDemo reports opens per person. In AfterDemo, each colleague your contact shares with gets their own link, so you know the approver has it without asking.
Know what your tool records. Buyers sometimes ask. AfterDemo, for example, uses no trackers on proposal pages.
Retire old links when the deal is done. DocSend lets you revoke document access. Old pricing shouldn't stay live forever.
Why small teams that run their own demos choose AfterDemo
- The proposal and the tracking are one thing. No exporting a PDF, uploading it and sharing a link.
- Buyers never log in. They open it and read.
- A business case in every proposal. Your champion has something to forward to the person who signs off.
- AI drafting from the call. You start from the buyer's own words, not a blank page.
- One simple price. Every feature on one plan.

Questions people ask
Do DocSend viewers need an account?
No. DocSend's pricing page says visitors don't need a license to view content through a DocSend link. Email verification for visitors is available from the Advanced plan.
How is DocSend priced?
Personal and Standard are priced per user per month, Advanced and Advanced Data Rooms are flat monthly fees that include 3 users, and yearly billing costs less than monthly. A 14-day trial of Advanced Data Rooms is offered.
What's the difference between DocSend and a proposal tool?
DocSend shares files you already made and shows how they were read, page by page. Proposal tools like Qwilr, PandaDoc and AfterDemo build the proposal itself, with pricing and a way to accept. AfterDemo also drafts the buyer's problems from your call.
Can I track a proposal per person without the buyer logging in?
Yes. In AfterDemo each colleague your contact shares with gets their own link, so you see who opened it, which sections they read, for how long and who it was shared with. Buyers never log in, and there are no trackers on proposal pages.
